Facilities

The low cost of living, and the stunning location are all reasons why students enjoy studying here, and an on-going investment in facilities and support services further enhances the student experience.

An exciting new arts and innovation Centre, new halls of residence, and improved sports facilities are amongst recent developments. Other facilities include a £1.5million MRI scanner, a multi-media language centre, a natural history museum and a £3.5million ocean research ship.

The university has four libraries, two of which are open 24/7. There are specialist sections for science, psychology, healthcare and education, including a dedicated healthcare Sciences Library based in Wrexham.

The Study Skills Centre provides help with the transition to university and on-going support with academic progression. There are also a number of social and learning spaces on site with smartboards, fixed computing equipment, Wi-Fi access and mobile LCD screens for collaborative learning activities, as well as a student lounge.

Much of your social life at Bangor University will revolve around the Students' Union, which provides services, support, activities and entertainment for students. There are around 170 clubs and societies to choose from – all free to join, ample volunteering opportunities are available through Student Volunteering Bangor, and you can also get involved with running the Union through their elections.

The University’s Sports Centre, Canolfan Brailsford has two main sports halls, three gyms, a climbing wall, and four international standard squash courts. The centre also has grass pitches, a floodlit synthetic pitch and two multipurpose tennis facilities. Outdoors, there are grass pitches for football and rugby, a floodlit synthetic pitch for hockey games and two multi-purpose facilities for tennis, five aside football and netball.
